More interior!
Interior
Here are some interior shots. . . . . . .

My lovely kitchen cabinets! Even though we still have to try to get our money back from the original ones, these turned out great, and I got lots of cool extra stuff!

Nathaniel's bathroom. He just needs faucets and a toilet and he's ready to go! (And we have to seal the shower and floor!).

The office/schoolroom. Of course, I had to have it purple! There's a closet on the left for storage and stuff.
The dining room on the left, and the kitchen on the right. The walls look really orange here, but they're more of a copper color.

New pics!!
Okay, I FINALLY have new pics to post! There are a bunch, and it only lets me post 5 at a time, so I have to do this in several posts! This first one is of the outside of the house.

The view of the back. We had a little accident with the roofing tar, and that's the black streak you see below the chimney. OOPS!

The north side of the house. The diamond-shaped window is our shower. Both garage doors are in now. We still need to pour the concrete for the garage driveway.

The south side of the house, complete with septic tank. I'm happy to report that the septic and leach system are completely done! Just need to finish covering everything in!

Here's the front view. We still have to pour the concrete for the entryway and put stones on the pillars.

SORRY!
Okay, my sister informed me that I have been sorely lacking in the posting department! What can I say? We're building a house! I keep forgetting to take my camera along, and when I do, the battery is dead! So I don't have any photos yet, but I can give you some updates!
We are getting pretty close--and by that I mean at least another month! You just can't believe how many little details are involved in building a house! The walls are all textured and painted. I painted all the interior doors, now I just have to primer and paint all the door frames, which is taking forever!! The bathroom cabinets are all in and the kitchen cabinets got delivered right before Thanksgiving! We put all the lower ones in, but we have to wait on the countertops before we do the upper ones (it's complicated). We finished grouting the girls' bathtub--it is beautiful!! It's my favorite room so far! The stucco is finished, and it turned out great! It looks really good with the roof tile. The roof is almost completely finished. We would have been done last Sunday, but it was horribly windy all day! If the weather cooperates, we will be all done the roof--FINALLY!-- on Friday. We got the leach line done for the septic tank, and all the parts for the well are here so hopefully we will have water soon! The instant the water is done, my next item is to have one working toilet! Goodbye port-a-potty!! : )
So, what's left? We have to finish grinding the edges of the floors and then seal them with concrete sealer--it's just a liquid that we rub into the concrete. Dan has to finish pouring the countertops for the girls' bathroom and the kitchen. He poured the one for our bath vanity, but it's still curing, so not sure how it looks yet! I'll keep you posted. We have to finish painting all the door trim and touch up where we oversprayed on the ceiling with the paint sprayer. We have to tile our shower in the master bath. We have to install all the light fixtures and plumbing (toilets, sinks, faucets). Dan has to hook up all the plumbing for the well, the solar water heater, and the heating and cooling. We have to pour the front entry way and the driveway in front of the garage, and do lots of cleanup outside! We have decided to wait on the wall for the backyard and the pool until after we get moved in. As you can imagine, we are pretty burned out, and could use a month or two off before we start working on the little details, like landscaping.
So, when are we moving in? When the house is done. : )
I've had to revise it so many times, that's all I'm saying for now. You'll know when I do!

Hello again! Sorry I am so behind on my updates! There is just so much to do! We poured the pad for the well house, and the back porch. It's nice to finally have the porch done so we can sit out there! We grouted Nathaniel's shower, and just this weekend we finished tiling the girls' bath. It came out really nice, but it was SO much work. We did glass mosaic tiles, which came on 12X12 sheets, but they were flimsy and hard to work with. Now we still have to grout ALL those lines!!!! UGH!
Well, the drywall is completely finished and textured. We still haven't done the basement yet, though. It's kinda low on the priority list! I'm planning to start primering the walls tomorrow, then painting this weekend. The garage doors are getting installed next week, and all the interior doors have been delivered. We will probably start putting those in as soon as the paint is done. The last coat of stucco is going on this week, too.
Sooo, we are moving right along, but there is still so much to do! We had a problem with our kitchen cabinets. One of their employees apparently embezzled a bunch of money, including ours. Instead of letting us know, they just strung us along for nearly 4 months before admitting the truth. So I've had to reorder new cabinets from Home Depot, which will take another 5 weeks, and we have no idea when we will be able to get our money back. Because of that, our funds are a little low again, so we will try to buckle down and get everything we need done for the next draw. Hopefully that will be the last one. We won't be in by Thanksgiving due to the cabinet delay, but I'm hoping for not long after.
So, tune in for the next episode of "Days of our Housebuilding Lives!"

The back porch before the concrete.
The back porch all finished. There's Dan putting up the ceiling for the porch.
Nathaniel's shower all grouted. Now we just have to wash and seal it! It looks much better in person!
The living room with the walls all textured. It's hard to see in the photo. That's the fireplace on the right.

Okay, I know I'm a little behind! We just spent a week in San Diego, like we do every year. I'm not sure we have ever appreciated it as much before! We spent the whole week just laying around the beach, and now we're ready to get back to work. Well, mostly! ; )
Now for updates! The drywall is coming along nicely! They should be done in another 2 to 3 weeks! The first coat of stucco is completely done! It is starting to look so amazing! I wish we were ready to move in tomorrow!! I got all the tile in Nathaniel's shower done, now I just have to grout it! Dan has been working on getting the dirt ready to pour the concrete for the back porch and the well house. We're STILL not done with the roof! It has rained every day since we got back! What's up with all the tropical storms???? Hopefully they will stop soon so we can finally get that finished up. So many little things to take care of now! I'll try to keep up a little better!
